Financial Accountability

Women are paid local market value (usually $3-5) for each necklace. TAPP tries to maximize the benefit to the women by strengthening the local market, instead of damaging it by buying at a higher price than the market allows. The women benefit from selling all of their work, allowing their income to remain independently stable from the local economy.

15% of each sale goes to administrative costs, and 10% is used for transportation and training of the caregivers in Uganda. The rest, about 40% of each purchase, goes into a small-project fund, which the women can use to start their own small businesses.
