Greetings from Uganda!!
Here is a message shared by our Utility Intern, Lauren Brake, about her experience so far!
5 January 2009
The TAPP interns send official word we have landed and are beginning to get acquainted with the great country of Uganda. After two lengthy flights and short layover in Amsterdam we arrived in Entebbe at about 10 p.m. on New Years Eve. With ease we passed through customs and collected all of our luggage then we were kindly greeted by two new Ugandan friends and made the journey to what has become our “home” for the trip in Kampala. We arrived just in time to greet the new year as fireworks were set off in the city. With our body clocks completely out of whack, we attempted to go to bed at 1 a.m. Kampala time, however back home it was only 3 p.m. thus we endured a mostly restless night.
The next morning bright and early we set off for the game park spending close to eight hours driving; however allowing us our first real chance to catch a glimpse of the Ugandan countryside! The game park was a fantastic adventures consisting of introductions to new animals, awards given to who could spot animals first, a ride down the Nile, a fantastic hike up the falls, and finally an amazing stop at a rhino sanctuary were we stood feet away from rhino in an open field.
Now that we are back in Kampala, the real adventure begins. I know I am beyond exited to get the chance to see the heart of TAPP in action, by visiting a variety of the TAPP branches. The true essence of this trip is at hand to hear one on one the stories of the impact of HIV/AIDS and the hope that can live on. I can’t wait to share with you their stories and messages of joy and hope.

INTERN TRIP TO UGANDA!
16 Dec 2008
On 30 December 2008, the three new TAPP interns will by flying to Uganda for a two-week exploration into the TAPP story. While in Uganda, the interns will be given the chance to build ties and relationships with the people affected and infected with AIDS. They will meet many of the people involved with TAPP in Uganda and get a chance to experience the culture and learn from their friends in Africa. “I’m most excited about experiencing a new culture… one that I’ve never experienced before… I hope to learn what we have in common with each other, even despite our differences.” Said Lauren, one of the interns going on the trip. “I’m also am really excited for the hot weather.” The interns will also be getting the chance to visit a game park and see the African countryside and wildlife. Check back in January to read about their visit!
